Chemical Properties
Antibacterial Spectrum: Lincomycin hydrochloride is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic with antibacterial activity against Gram-positive cocci, certain anaerobic bacteria, and mycoplasmas. It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus hemolyticus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, as well as anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides, Clostridium, and Fusobacterium.
Mechanism of Action: It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by acting on the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing the elongation of the peptide chain.
Pharmaceutical Properties
Indications: It is clinically used for various infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as pneumonia, meningitis, endocarditis, cellulitis, tonsillitis, erysipelas, furuncles, and urinary tract infections. Due to its special affinity with bone tissue, it is also particularly suitable for infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus-induced osteomyelitis.
Dosage and Administration: The dosage and frequency of administration depend on the patient's age, weight, and severity of infection. It can be administered orally or intravenously.
