Pharmaceutical Properties
Pharmaceutical Form: Commonly available in granule, tablet, and capsule formulations.
Pharmacological Action: After absorption, Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate is hydrolyzed in the body to release erythromycin, which exerts its pharmacological effects. It primarily binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis by blocking peptide transfer and mRNA translocation, thereby exerting an antibacterial effect.
Indications: It is indicated for infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and others. It is also the preferred drug for infections caused by drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus hemolyticus.
