Sotalol Hydrochloride is an antiarrhythmic drug with both beta-blocking and potassium channel-blocking properties.
Clinical applications include:
Conversion and prevention of supraventricular tachycardias, particularly atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia, and also used in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome with supraventricular tachycardia.
Atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation.
Various ventricular arrhythmias, including ventricular premature beats, sustained and non-sustained ventricular tachycardia.
Severe arrhythmias complicating acute myocardial infarction.

Toxicity: LD50 (rat, oral) is 3450 mg/kg, LD50 (mouse, oral) is 2600 mg/kg, indicating moderate toxicity.
