Acrivastine is a moderately potent, competitive histamine H1 receptor antagonist belonging to the class of antihistamines.
Basic Information
English Name: Acrivastine
CAS Number: 87848-99-5
Molecular Formula: C22H24N2O2
Molecular Weight: 348.438
Pharmacological Action
Acrivastine competitively antagonizes histamine at H1 receptors on effector cells, preventing histamine from binding to these receptors and thus inhibiting the allergic reactions they trigger. It exhibits minimal anticholinergic effects and has low penetration into the central nervous system, resulting in fewer anticholinergic and CNS-related side effects. Acrivastine is primarily excreted unchanged via the kidneys. After oral administration, it is well absorbed in the intestine.
