Pharmacological Action
Ebastine exhibits a high degree of selectivity for the H1 receptor without central nervous system depression. Compared to terfenadine, ebastine possesses stronger and longer-lasting effects. It also has an antagonistic effect on leukotriene C4, inhibiting bronchoconstriction induced by leukotriene C4, exhibiting anticholinergic activity, and suppressing experimental wheezing and nasal allergies.
