English Name: Imrecoxib
Mechanism of Action
Imrecoxib (Etoricoxib) is a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme involved in the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. By inhibiting COX-2, it reduces the production of these prostaglandins, thereby suppressing inflammation and pain. Importantly, it exhibits less inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), which is responsible for maintaining normal physiological functions, minimizing potential adverse effects on the gastrointestinal system and cardiovascular system.
