Pharmacological Action
Etodolac exerts its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins at inflammatory sites. Compared to cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), Etodolac exhibits greater selectivity towards COX-2, resulting in relatively fewer gastrointestinal adverse effects.
