Budesonide is a potent glucocorticoid with local anti-inflammatory effects.
Basic Information
English Name: Budesonide
Chemical Formula: C25H34O6
Molecular Weight: 430.534
CAS Number: 51333-22-3
Pharmacological Action
Budesonide enhances the stability of endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and lysosomal membranes. It inhibits immune reactions, reduces antibody synthesis, and decreases the release and activity of histamine and other allergic active mediators. Furthermore, it inhibits the synthesis and release of bronchoconstrictive substances, thereby alleviating smooth muscle contraction.
Indications
Budesonide is primarily used in the treatment of asthma and chronic asthmatic bronchitis. It is suitable for patients who are glucocorticoid-dependent or non-dependent, providing potent local anti-inflammatory effects that improve clinical symptoms and lung function.
