Terbutaline Sulfate, also known as terbutaline sulfate or by its other names such as mesohydroxyalbuterol and terbutaline, is an orally active β2-adrenergic receptor agonist and the active metabolite of bambuterol.
Basic Information
Product Name: Terbutaline Sulfate
Chemical Name: (±)α-[(tert-Butylamino)methyl]-3,5-dihydroxybenzyl alcohol sulfate (2:1)
CAS No.: 23031-32-5
Molecular Formula: (C12H19NO3)2·H2SO4
Molecular Weight: 548.66
Indications
Terbutaline sulfate is primarily used for the treatment of bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other lung diseases accompanied by bronchoconstriction.
Pharmacological Action
Terbutaline sulfate is an adrenergic agonist that selectively stimulates β2-receptors, thereby relaxing bronchial smooth muscles, inhibiting the release of endogenous bronchoconstrictive substances, reducing edema caused by endogenous mediators, and improving the clearance ability of bronchial mucosal cilia. It can also relax uterine smooth muscles.
