Chemical Properties
pH Sensitivity: As a BCS II drug, the solubility of Cinacalcet Hydrochloride is significantly affected by pH, which can lead to variations in its bioavailability.
Pharmaceutical Properties
Indication: Cinacalcet Hydrochloride is an oral calcium receptor agonist (calcimimetic) used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing dialysis and hypercalcemia in patients with parathyroid carcinoma.
Mechanism of Action: By increasing the sensitivity of the parathyroid calcium-sensing receptor (CaR) to extracellular calcium ions, Cinacalcet Hydrochloride reduces the synthesis and secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH).
Pharmacodynamics: In animal studies, oral administration of Cinacalcet has been shown to significantly reduce circulating PTH levels and serum calcium levels.
