Pharmacological Action

Drug Type: Mivacurium Chloride is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent, which also functions as a short-acting skeletal muscle relaxant.

Mechanism of Action: Mivacurium Chloride works by binding to N2-type acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) on the motor endplate membrane. This binding reduces or inhibits the depolarizing action of acetylcholine on the muscle cell endplate, thereby blocking the transmission of nerve impulses at the neuromuscular junction. The resultant muscle relaxation is particularly useful for procedures such as tracheal intubation and surgical muscle relaxation.
