Sitagliptin Phosphate is a competitive, β-amino acid-derived dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor with hypoglycemic activity.
Basic Information
English Name: Sitagliptin Phosphate
CAS Number: 654671-78-0
Molecular Formula: C16H18F6N5O5P
Molecular Weight: 505.31
Pharmacological Action
Sitagliptin Phosphate inhibits DPP-4, thereby increasing the active forms of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which in turn increases insulin release and decreases glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. This mechanism of action helps improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Indications
Indications: Januvia (Sitagliptin Phosphate Tablets) is used in combination with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
