Pharmacological Actions

Fosphenytoin Sodium is a water-soluble prodrug of phenytoin, a widely used anticonvulsant. The drug is converted to phenytoin in the body. Phenytoin works by stabilizing neuronal membranes and reducing seizure activity by promoting sodium efflux from neurons. This prevents excessive neuronal depolarization and the spread of seizure activity.
