Leuprorelin Acetate is a crucial medical drug primarily used in the treatment of various hormone-related disorders.
Basic Information
English Name: Leuprorelin Acetate
CAS Number: 74381-53-6
Molecular Formula: C61H88N16O14
Molecular Weight: 1269.47
Pharmacological Action
Leuprorelin Acetate is an analog of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LH-RH), consisting of nine amino acids and structurally similar to LH-RH. It competitively binds to LH-RH receptors, thereby inhibiting the production and release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary gland. This inhibitory effect leads to a decrease in ovarian estrogen and testicular androgen production, causing hormone-sensitive tumors to shrink and exerting ovarian suppression and castration effects.
Indications
Advanced Prostate Cancer: By lowering serum testosterone levels, it achieves therapeutic goals.
Premenopausal Breast Cancer: Used as postoperative adjuvant therapy or for recurrent and advanced cases, with effects similar to ovarian ablation.
Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids: Improves related symptoms such as excessive menstrual bleeding, lower abdominal pain, back pain, and anemia.
Central Precocious Puberty: Suppresses the premature development of secondary sexual characteristics.
